Creative Writing for Middle & High Schoolers

For Students in 5th-12th Grade

April 26th, 3:00pm

Creative writing lovers are invited to meet up at the library to practice responding to writing prompts!

We will provide paper and pens, or you can use your library card to borrow one of our in house laptops.  You are also welcome to bring your own favorite device or notebook.

SCIENCETELLERS: Dragons and Dreams

April 19th, 3:00-3:45

Recommended for Ages 5-10
Join us as we learn about dry ice and the changing states of matter through interactive and      explosive experiments with fog, bubbles, flying rockets and more.
Enjoy this spectacular adventure and be swept away to a world where dragons are real and dreams come true — and where only the most daring of people will survive to tell the tale!

Doodling for Relaxation

Did you know that doodling is a great way to relax and even meditate?

At this workshop we’ll use learn the Zentangle method of doodling which was created to encourage focus, creativity and relaxation.  You’ll learn everything you need to know to get started on this fun and artistically   fulfilling relaxation technique!

Read to a Therapy Dog


For Children in 2nd Grade & Up

Sign Your Child up for a 15-minute slot to practice reading one-on-one to a cuddly, non-judgmental listener!

This  program meets the second Monday of each month (October is the exception).

The slots are 15-minutes long, starting at 6:30 and ending at 7:30pm.

This program is REGISTRATION ONLY.

Creative Dance with Millis Dance Theatre

FREE Ballet Based Dance Class held at the Millis Public Library

For Children Ages 2-4 

Children will learn the fundamentals of dance including beginner dance steps set to spirited music. The class offered  by Millis Dance Theatre will focus on creative expression through open-ended movement, such as dancing with ribbons, scarves, hula-hoops etc. This lively class is offered to children who have danced before as well as those with no prior experience and will increase flexibility, coordination and musicality.

Children leave this class feeling happy and accomplished!

Attire: comfortable clothes, leotard and ballet slippers optional

Thursdays Mornings February & March 2017

Early Class: 10:30am

Late Class: 11:15am

REGISTRATION REQUIRED.  Children must be 2 by 2/02. No exceptions.

Story Time at the Millis Library

ToddPete-the-Catler Time:

Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:30am

Toddler time is geared towards children ages 1-3, but children of any age are welcome.  We sing and share stories.  There is always plenty of time afterwards to play and explore the children’s room!  Toddler Time meets on an ongoing basis with occasional scheduled days off.  To check if a Story time is meeting on a particular day, see our Events Calendar.

Wednesdays at 10:30am AND 1st and 2nd Saturdays of the Month September 10-June  10:30am

Mother Goose on the Loose is geared towards our youngest patrons, children ages 0-3, but children of any age are welcome.  We sing, do finger plays, lap sit songs, and share a simple story.  Afterward, children are invited to color  and/or  play and explore the children’s room.  Mother Goose on the Loose meets on Wednesdays on an ongoing basis with occasional scheduled days off.  The Saturday group meets the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Saturdays of every month September-May.  To check if a Story time is meeting on a particular day, see our Events Calendar.

 Pajama Story Time

One Monday a Month 6:15pm-7:00pm

Recommended for children ages 2-5, we read picture books, sing songs and do a craft, all in our PJs!
