For Homebound Patrons living in MILLIS - Library materials delivered to your doorstep
Beginning in March 2011, the Millis Public Library will be offering a delivery option to provide library materials for Millis residents who are unable to visit the library due to a long or short-term disability.
Who is eligible to take advantage of this program?
Millis residents, residing in Millis, who are unable to travel to the library, may register for this service. This includes individuals who may have permanent or temporary disabilities or health problems, residents who do not have access to transportation, and patrons who have been hospitalized or are temporarily confined to their home.
Who will deliver the library materials?
Library volunteers will deliver and retrieve the materials.
What type of materials can I borrow?
All circulating library materials, including books, magazines, recorded books, dvds, and music cds will be delivered to your home for a four-week loan period. Materials will be delivered and retrieved on the same day. We can select items for you by title or author, or if you prefer, library staff will select a variety of materials based on your reading interests and preferences.
How can I register for this service?
To get started, you need to complete the Doorstep Delivery to the Homebound Patron Registration Form, and provide your library card number. If you do not have a valid Millis Library Card, you will also need to complete a Library Card Registration Form as well as the Doorstep Delivery Registration Form. Registration forms are available at the Library, at the Millis Council on Aging, and online at the Library’s website (www.millislibrary.org). Navigate to the LIBRARY SERVICES option on the left side of the home page, and then copy and paste the text into a new word document. Then, simply compete the required form(s) and we will take care of the rest! FREEGAL MUSIC HAS ARRIVED AT THE MILLIS PUBLIC LIBRARY! DOWNLOAD FREE MUSIC! Free to all Millis residents with a Millis Library Card. Limit: 3 music downloads per week per patron. Millis library card holders can now access free music through a service called Freegal. All you need to access it is your valid Millis Public Library card. The Freegal Music Service consists of content licensed from Sony Music Entertainment.

On Monday evening, June 14, 2010, at just a little past midnight, Millis voters voted overwhelmingly to approve the debt exclusion for the library construction project. With a vote of 663 to 152, Millis Voters approved the Construction Project for a New Millis Library!
The Trustees and Friends of the Millis Library and all of the Library staff thank you all for your input and your consideration of this issue.
We are now moving forward with the next steps in the process, including signing a contract with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The Permanent Building Committee and the Trustees will be working together as this new library takes shape. Please feel free to contact library staff with any questions you may have.

The votes have been counted for the May 11th Town Election—and voters have approved the bond request for funding the new Millis Public Library project. The project will now be placed on the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting, which is scheduled for June 14th.
